Hammock, bye bye snow, snake, and freezing temps

The hammock has arrived and in its new home. It's a bit of a trial and error method to wrapping the tree straps and getting the height right. And it's inside the fence not outside - didn't think people would appreciate being nosed awake by smelly, large cows... Instantly relaxing - I hadn't been in one in years. It's a double for those who need to know...

Snow is disappearing from our peaks. It's been quite the amazing spring.

Lots of deer, some elk, but no bear sightings nor elk babies, just a harmless snake in the road as I went on my woods walk. Actually it's the first snake I've seen anywhere here in the 4 summers we've had the house. And fyi, there are no poisonous snakes here - they can't live in this altitude.

My pickup at the farm turned out to be a much better selection of meat than previously. Of course, as soon as I'm ready to hang it up, it changes. So, we'll wait and see how it goes through the summer.

After a weekend filled with projects (staining the deck, chainsawing fallen wood) Mark will be back out into the friendly skies - this time to the Virginia area, sadly not to visit family, but to work. Different than the usual Detroit run - back this weekend.
And the big beautiful hanging baskets that went up this week, have come down - only temporary - inside protected - we have temps dropping into the twenties tonight. Oh, yes, June 10 freezing temps - life is different here....
Off to CB for dinner with friends - it's restaurant week!
