Much loved company visits and my big book announcement

Sorry, I have been busy, busy, busy with company and a big announcement at the end of this post. We still have more company to come, baby Aubrey for one (oh yeah with her parents), as well as Lisa, Charles, and 2nd cousin Layla before our time comes to an end at Star Mountain. At least until Christmas...

Garlic Mike's yes!
Great time had with Cliff and Tish. Some fishing, eating, and shopping were activities of choice. And a grand herd of elk with bulls bugling as we stopped on Ohio Creek to enjoy. Our bucks were full on enjoying our yard and under the deck spa. What a craziness our animal world is here...

A little mushroom hunting had in between company with good friends. Unfortunately it was a bust this year. We've had marvelous luck with chanterelles in the past but not so this time. Great nature outing anyway.

Lot of changes happening. Temps are dropping in the 30's, leaves will be in a blaze of glory soon and deer are changing to gray by the day. Oh the seasons go so fast here.

of course magic spring water
bad selfie but at least we're represented
Secret Stash and yes pizza was had too
Great friend Ellen was here from Naples. What a wonderful visit was had. We did the sights and sounds and I loved loved having her. Come back another time please!

And BIG announcement: my book is going live on Amazon tomorrow!! It's been a 2 year labor of love and please visit my newly created website for updates. http://www.gretchenleeadams.com/
This cover is one of my photos and the people pictured are terrific friends who we took on one of our favorite jeep trips. This is my journey through autoimmune disease and all of the practical  research I found to help everyone live a healthier life naturally. Many thanks if you care to explore.

The waning of summer in the mountains

Haying is almost at an end, schools are back in session, and wisps of fall are in the air. And still, there are touches of snow leftover from the winter. You can see small pockets on the Anthracites above.

Deer, deer everywhere. We have a ton of bucks visiting most days and lounging under the deck.

the quail
Lots of other animals about as well. First sighting of a weasel this summer. It's awfully late in the season.

A fun unexpected visit from Lisa and Charles who zipped over from Santa Fe. It was very short but we made the most of it. Nice we're close enough for a spur of the moment plan. The mania  of summer visitors has died down so Crested Butte was peaceful and back to the quaint town we know and love.
We finally took a drive down Carbon Creek. Wow, we'd been told there had been avalanche activity over the winter but had no idea the monstrous damage. My photos don't do it justice. The scope was massive.

Mark is here only for a week this time but we'll make the most of it. We have our next company coming tomorrow as well. Cliff and Tish flying over from Houston. Lots of fun will be had!
