Here and there in Naples

April is here and the season will end soon. Car transport trucks are starting to arrive to pick up cars so their owners can just fly back to their northern summer homes. We did that once, to transport a car that we'd sold to a friend back in Maryland. Quite an expensive proposition probably not to be repeated. Anyway yearrounders can't wait for the quiet and business owners are adding up their receipts hoping to have enough to tide them over until November when it all starts over again.

As it's always green here so you have to look for subtle differences to tell the time of year. This yellow trumpet tree is in riot soon to be over for spring. We've actually gotten a few tomatoes off our single plant in a pot with more ripening. It's not much, but more than I was able to accomplish at Star Mt.

Weather has been much warmer than normal of recent times. Feels too much like summer, Florida summer, which is sticky suffocating heat. A drop to normal is predicted soon, certainly hope so.

My morning walk is sometimes bridging night into day. Got the moon still up as I started and the sun rising as I end. I'm sure there's a life meaning in that but haven't figure it out.

Anhinga a year round resident
We've seen two movies over the last two weekends, unusual for us. Here's the report in case you are thinking of going:
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot with Tina Fey
First, it's not a comedy as expected and the trailer clearly tried to portray. It's good, not great drama in the middle east based on a real story that had more than a whiff of MASH. Supposed to be in Afghanistan, but too much "unrest" there to actually film so it was filmed in New Mexico.
Eye in the Sky with Helen Mirren
Yes it looks like we've suddenly decided to see violent war torn, terrorist stories and only those. I promise it was just a coincidence. This one is a thriller  about drone warfare and terrorists in Nairobi, Some great performances including by the late Alan Rickman (loved him in every film he was ever in) but subject matter was tragic and terrible and I think we're both done with going to see deep films. Light and silly for me from now on...

New purchase for the kitchen here. Our first Scanpan. For those not familiar they are heavy duty aluminum (recycled) pans that are non stick, can go in the oven, dishwasher, metal utensils can be used, and lifetime warranty. What's not to like? Well, they're expensive and we hit on a good sale so bought a small 9 inch. I'm going to say we're probably in trouble now, because so far really, really like it and so will want more...

lots of gorgeous sunrises

Also doing a little branching out for restaurants. Inca's which is a Peruvian restaurant is a new fav. Close to us (what isn't?) sleek, modern design with authentic dishes from a Miami originated chef. Marvelous ceviche which we love. And tonight we finally are going to the chinese restaurant (O'Mei) that specializes in traditional Peking duck. I'll report back.

Breaking news - I've had a photo accepted in the Crested Butte Land Trust 2017 calendar. See above. I've been in their calendar once before so thought I'd submit again. They also wanted 7 more photos for promotions. 'Tis nice.

Off to Miami with Mark next week. I'll report the happenings... It's been a year since Mark took the job - can't believe it!
