Star Mountain company part two

Brush Creek
The week of company has come and gone. How sad its over! Lots of fun was had and the week zoomed by at warp speed. After taking Mark to the Gunnison airport and the rest of the group left to catch a flight in Denver, suddenly it was dead silent. Time to reorient and slow it dowwwn.

Hope everyone had a great 4th. Some of us ended up at the infamous Crested Butte parade and everyone enjoyed the family barbecue ribs, corn, beans, and Mom's blueberry pie. Flag waving stuff.

I may have forgotten to mention that the cattle are back in for the summer/fall. They are 180+ and extremely skittish of people right now. On my morning walk I inadvertently started a mini stampede as they ran away from me. If previous summers are any judge, they flick theirs tails at you and barely move off the road as the summer wanes. The grass this year is so high they'll end up extra humongous this season. A good lease for our rancher.

More painting on location with Mom. So much fun to share our watercolor passion and there are endless gorgeous views in every direction. Amazing to have Mom out here at Star Mt. again. Hey, she's 87 and going strong!

More scrumptious cooking went on with Anne and Jean (with Clare and Justine's help) made Jamie Oliver's puff pastry chicken and leek pie. Totally awesome. Personally with all the great food, I need to be very diligent on exercising this week.

We zipped over Ohio Pass and of course had to take a picture at the top. Definitely the photogenic family don't you agree!

CB farmer's market - crazy mobbed. Something for everyone and just a lot of fun.

Yup, made it to Secret Stash. First time for Anne, Jean, and the girls. Of course they loved it and a sweatshirt purchase was made as well. And first time for us sitting at a table in the gift shop!

Elk at Castleton
All is calm and quiet at least for a little while. Next round of company comes in the 18th. Can't wait, I love the summers here with all the visitors. Mark will be back then too - he's certainly having a very different summer zipping back and forth to Florida for the job.

  1. Good seeing photos of mom and Ann's crew. Lovely family indeed. Tempting to hop in the car right now. Seriously! Xo
