The start of the new season - fall

A quiet week with fall close at hand. A dusting of snow on the high peaks and 30's at night. The aspen have not changed yet but that will happen soon enough. Everything moves fast around here. Very short seasons except for the winter. That's one realllly long season- 5 months or more.

Fun visit to CB having breakfast outside at Paradise Cafe. It's quieted down with most of the tourists leaving. School has started in most places or will soon in whatever form that is. Crazy world right now.

A baby rufus hummingbird. Most of the adults have been gone for two weeks. Hope he can manage on his own. We're down to only a few hummingbirds of any kind. They all seem to have an internal compass on when its time to go (back to Mexico in this case).

Full moon. That mysterious magical orb that shows itself every month in all its glory. It's extra amazing in our non light polluted area.

Cattle are everywhere as are the ranchers. Only a few weeks left before the big roundup happens. Thousands of cattle are brought down from every corner of our mountains and valleys to be sold or put in pastures for the winter.

Flap has come by to visit again. She looks in good shape, turning her coat to winter gray right now.

Deer are everywhere especially in our fenced in property. They're interested in all our remaining green plants.

Nice sighting of bighorn sheep. None of the big male rams though, just females. They live here even during the -20 degree winter.

We're off to Maryland next week for a member guest men's tournament at our old club and to have a socially distanced visit with  4 month old Braden and Aubrey who's now 2. First visit with Braden!
