Flowers, camping, and summer going by too fast

Where in the world is the time going? July is zooming by and the giant list of things to do and explore has barely been touched. Aaugh...

Ah yes, scrumptious steaks with sauteed mushrooms and onions
We did however, make it out for an overnight camping trip- same place as last year- up Ohio Pass. Lovely evening, but apparently we are wimps - next morning packed up early early to go back home for showers etc. 10 minutes from home does it!

Wildlife report: First sighting of twin fawns this morning. The deer have been few and far between after a big showing in June. We're thinking they may have jumped across the road to our neighboring ranch with lots of water. And the orange Rufus hummingbirds arrived last week. We're still coasting with the feeders but it's starting to pick up. We'll see if they get even close to the levels of sugar guzzling from last year.

Missing that little Penny. A couple extra pics from their visit. And hurray family coming Sunday - Paul, Sherry, and the kids. Love to share the summer...

Penny part two

Fun,fun, fun with Miss Penny(well, I guess her parents too). We played hard, did lots of things but still the week went too fast to fit everything in. They are flying back to Virginia as I write. Boohoo.

Hope everyone had a great 4th. We sure did! Went to the crazy CB parade then home for ribs, corn, and Tiffany's blueberry pie. Yum.

Penny decided to end the day with some cow chasing. Those little legs went a quarter mile scaring those cows all the way down the road. Wow.

More hiking adventures, this time the far reaches of Star Mt. Saw some deer, some old old cabins, and only bear scat, NOT an actual bear thank goodness.

Off to Crested Butte again for try number 2 at the newly moved and open Secret Stash. Stopped for pics in the flowers- not alone, two other families were stopped as well- just too gorgeous!

Secret Stash is CLEARLY no secret anymore. We got there at 5 and by 5:20 literally, there was a waiting list. Not quaint anymore, big to hold lots of people, but the pizza is still the great unique food we all love.

And the end, til the next pile of company arrives - next Sun!

Bliss with Penny

Stopping to take a breath between Penny adventures. She is a whirlwind of activity and enjoying her time at Star Mt a lot. Be forewarned, this post will be full of mostly Miss Penny photos. Can't help myself- she is so precious!

Loves the cows and no fear AT ALL.

Great to see Lisa and Charles even for their short trip over. Penny was happy to have more added to her fan base.

Wagon action. Fun stuff except Nana's plan did not include the wheel noise. The quiet walk in the woods was a shade louder than normal...

Ahhh , the outdoor life: picking flowers, rocks, dirt, shovels, buckets, wind in your hair...

And then there is the playground and ice cream - how to choose, how to choose. I know- both!

Breaking in the new backpack. First hike to the beaver ponds. Thanks Anne, success so far!

Hanging at the house has been exciting too. Even a transformation to a fairy princess, imagine.
