We have made it back to Star Mt! A 2 1/2 day travel debacle ensued with multi flight delays, two hotel stays, and lost luggage (finally found) before we arrived, but all is good now.
Wonderful quick weekend visit with Nancy and Rodney. Our first visitors for the summer! We stopped at Roaring Judy fish hatchery to see if there was any activity. Long ago we came and there was a crazy bear having a feast on trout but no longer. Electric fences everywhere to keep them out. Lots of healthy trout growing. We went into CB and had lunch at Secret Stash of course. Rodney's first time! Happy to see they were open as it's very early in the season and much is still closed.
Lots of elk around everyday. These are pregnant mamas to be and they'll give birth in our woods in June. Always exciting. There are lots of animals on the move right now including deer, coyote, dusky grouse, and marmots (not Mark's favorite). We always have the binoculars available cuz you never know what will pop out.
The required May snowstorm. It happens most years. The hummingbirds were waiting for us and feeders went up right away. Mark took them down last night so they wouldn't freeze - it went down to 22. Crazy up and down weather at this time of year. And yes we are very excited to be back. Look forward to a wonderful mountain summer.
